Ready to make a difference?Help Florida recover from Hurricane Ian by serving an AmeriCorps term with Arcadia-DeSoto County Habitat for Humanity!SBP, a social impact organization focused on disaster resilience and recovery, is hiring an AmeriCorps Project Lead and an AmeriCorps Construction Coordinator to serve with Arcadia-DeSoto County Habitat for Humanity! DeSoto Habitat brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
They became an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International in 2000 and strengthens our community with two main programs:
the Homebuyer Program and the Critical Home Repair Program.
They are committed to helping families build safe and affordable homes and to making repairs to existing homes in our community.
Completing much-needed repairs to existing homes strengthens communities by providing housing security for our residents and allows our homeowners to stay in their homes while safely aging in place.
AmeriCorps Project Lead - Essential Functions Actively participate in construction projects completing each phase of construction on schedule.
Work closely with the construction crew and volunteers onsite to ensure quality results while monitoring construction safety.
Maintain the ability to perform strenuous, physical labor in different climates, over long periods of time.
Adhere to SBP's Construction Manual and Safety Protocol and participate in regular safety training.
AmeriCorps Construction Coordinator - Essential Functions Obtain construction permits by submitting accurate permit applications.
Maintain the operating site's sub-contractor database with proper documentation and identify new subcontractors.
Attend walkthroughs with Project Managers to understand and receive bids for work from subcontractors.
Adhere to SBP's Construction Manual and Safety Protocol and participate in regular safety trainings.
Requirements Be at least 17 years of age Have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and be able to provide documentation of vaccination status prior to enrollment Ability to commit to serving full-time, Monday - Friday from 8 am - 5 pm and an average of 2 Saturdays a month.
AmeriCorps members serve an average of 42.
5 hours per week to complete 1700 hours of service during a temporary 10-month service term.
Benefits Benefits & Compensation Package Stipend of $2,100 per month (pre-tax) An additional $175 monthly housing stipend for individuals who have previously served in AmeriCorps, NCCC, or VISTA An education award of $6,495 upon successful completion of each 10-month term Eligibility to postpone repayment of federally-guaranteed student loans during their service term.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
