08 a year 17 hours ago 17 hours ago 17 hours ago General Description The Social Media/Digital Content Coordinator is responsible implementing the City's digital communications strategy and creating compelling social media and website content that tells the City's story.
The position works closely with members of the Communications team and other City departments to organize, develop, and present public information on the City of North Port website and through its social media channels.
The position reports to the Deputy Communications Director/Public Information Manager in the Communications Department.
Essential Job Functions Produce engaging content for the City's main social media accounts.
Work closely with various City departments to create digital content that highlights City programs, events, and initiatives.
Design web pages, write copy and create visuals for the City's website; update, organize and maintain online content in coordination with departmental web liaisons.
Advise and assist City departments and staff in the creation, development and oversight of departmental social media accounts and content in accordance with City and department policy.
Review, edit and approve social media content submitted by other staff members and departments to ensure quality control and adherence to best practices.
Moderate and respond to comments and direct messages from the public on social media.
Monitor emerging social media platforms and trends; adopt and implement best practices for government organizations.
Optimize content on website and social media for accessibility, reach and engagement.
Ensure proper archiving of social media content and fulfillment of public records requests.
Support the City's Emergency Operations Center during emergency activations.
Assist the Communications Department in working toward ADA compliance.
Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be required.

) Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of trends/best practices in social media, web design and other digital communication platforms.
Experience using a social media management and scheduling platform such as Loomly or similar.
Ability to communicate complex information in a meaningful way to diverse online audiences.
Understanding of search-engine optimization (SEO) and ability to write for the web using keywords, hyperlinks, navigation, and brevity.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, officials, and the public.
Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines simultaneously.
Ability to remain calm in crisis or high-pressure situations.
Understanding of public records/Florida Sunshine laws Ability to exercise strong judgment, think independently and find creative solutions.

Experience:
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or closely related field.
Two years of work experience managing website and/or social media content, images, and video.

) Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.

You can purchase additional voluntary life insurance for yourself and your dependents.
Cigna - Short Term Disability The City provides short term disability coverage to all eligible employees at no cost to the employee.
This coverage is used in the event of an accident or illness outside of work.

Paid Holidays The City observes 12 paid holidays per year.
Sick Leave and Annual Leave Full time employees accrue eight (8) hours per month starting on the first day of employment.
Accruals and usage will appear on your pay stub each payroll.
Full time employees accrue annual leave (vacation) bi-weekly, based on years of service.
Sick Leave Incentive Employees receive an incentive of up to four (4) days per calendar year for every 250 hours remaining in their sick leave bank.
Sick leave incentive days cannot be carried over to the next year.
Personal Leave Employees are eligible for a maximum of two (2) personal leave days per calendar year when they have accrued 96 or sick more hours.
This leave is approved by the department director through the department leave approval process.
