The North Port Fire Rescue is currently building an ongoing eligibility list for Firefighter/Paramedic. Testing for this position is conducted through National Testing Network (NTN).

Salary Information:
Pay Grade Step 1
Hourly: $12.5413 (Additional $2.75/hour Paramedic incentive pay upon successful department field EMS training and approval by the Medical Director and Fire Chief)
Annual: $38,646.02 (includes 323 hours of overtime per FLSA)

General Description: Performs skilled work in fire suppression, emergency medical services, fire prevention, inspection and training. This is a progressive apprenticeship position in accordance with the North Port Fire Rescue District Apprenticeship Fire Medic Program.
Work schedule is shift work and will include evenings, weekends and holidays; rotating shifts.
Department Information: The North Port Fire Rescue District is a full-service, career department offering fire suppression, advanced life support emergency medical services; disaster preparedness, response and recovery; and fire prevention functions. The District provides emergency services to the City of North Port, and under inter-local and mutual aid agreements to portions of unincorporated Sarasota County and Charlotte County.
City Information: Located in Sarasota County on Florida's Gulf Coast, North Port is approximately halfway between Tampa and Naples. North Port is one of Florida's largest cities in land area, but only about 25% developed. Since 2000, it has had a population growth of 149.69 percent, making it one of Florida's fasted growing cities. North Port is now a relatively young community with a median resident age of 39.1. The City was ranked on CNN's Money's Best Places to Live section in August 2012, as number two, for affordable housing, reasonable property taxes (about 15% lower than the state average) and quality of life.

Valid FLORIDA State Driver's License: Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.

Vision: Vision requirements follow the guidelines as outlined in NFPA 1582.
Academy Certification:
o Valid Paramedic license issued by the State of Florida
o State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance/Minimum Standards
o Valid CPR card
o Valid ACLS card
o Successfully passing the National Testing Network (NTN) administered Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) within the past 12 months
o Other certifications as mandated by the City, Medical Director and/or State of Florida.
All certifications must be current and valid. Expired certifications do not apply.
Selection Process:
To be considered for employment as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the City of North Port, please follow these steps:
1. Applicants must achieve a passing score on the FireTEAM and Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT). To fill out an application and schedule a test, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com and click Firefighter jobs. Select the department and read over all requirements and if qualified select a testing location on the CPAT icon on the main page of the website and then follow the instructions. The department requires the candidate PHQ. You can access the questionnaire through your candidate NTN account. The PHQ must be completed by the closing date or you may not be considered further in the process.
2. Complete the required City of North Port application at www.cityofnorthport.com (or through www.governmentjobs.com). Employment applications are not accepted until both CPAT and FireTEAM are successfully completed. All information provided on your application (as well as in all other phases of the employment process) must be true, current, accurate and without omission.
3. Submit your supporting documents. Your application will not be complete until you submit legible copies of each of the following documents. Applications are not processed until all required documents have been electronically attached to your application. Documents must be uploaded BEFORE submitting the applications. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
